The MARVEL TEAM-UP series debuted in March of 1972 and featured two or more Marvel characters in one story. Through February 1985, and 150 issues, it featured SPIDER-MAN as the lead "team up" character in all but ten issues, and in six of its seven Annuals. Here is issue #145 from Fall 1984, with a script by Tony Isabella, writing about what he knows best - his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio!

In "Hometown Boy", Isabella dusts off former villain WHIPLASH, who is really unemployed computer engineer Mark Scarlotti, now going by the moniker of BACKLASH and intent on beating down IRON MAN.

SPIDER-MAN and IRON MAN both fly into Cleveland, Ohio, unaware of each other's presence, to attend an engineering convention Spider-Man and Iron Man are in Cleveland for an engineering convention when they find out the hard way that the city is BACKLASH's home town. Battles erupt and excitement ensues!

Solid multi-level storytelling by Tony Isabella, and great artwork by Greg LaRocque and Mike Esposito!
