By 1975, Marvel's CONAN THE BARBARIAN was approaching the early stages of its own 'Middle Age' in its 20 year run, memorably pairing the talents of ret-con specialist Roy Thomas and his original scripts, and the power of John Buscema's art.

These two issues feature CONAN - and John Buscema - at their prime, battling wizard-controlled monsters, hobgoblin hordes, and an evil despot!

In #49's "Wolf-Woman!", CONAN escapes his imprisonment by robber baron TORKAL MOH, but runs afoul of a herd of wolves while chasing him. He is saved at the last minute by their mistress, LUPALINA, who decides to help CONAN retrieve the amulet he has been tasked to deliver.

CONAN and LUPALINA reach TORKAL MOH's castle, battle a small army, and make their way to the strange Gifting Tree. But there they are confronted by TORKAL MOH's dark god., the gigantic octopod and monstrous god PTHASSIASS as he rises from a black pool!

••••• this story was adapted by Thomas from the original novel "Kothar and the Conjurer's Curse" by none other than DC's great sci-fi writer Gardner F. Fox! •••••

PTHASSIASS returns in #50's "The Dweller in the Pool!", and wastes no time in attacking CONAN and his companions. CONAN manages to lure it into the surrounding plants, and the tendrils and vines attack and flay PTHASSIASS as CONAN retreats with the amulet, which he learns is capable of teleporting the bearer anywhere.

So he teleports to the castle of the intended recipient of the amulet, only to battle the evil magician who has taken over, along with his subhuman creatures who lurk in the dungeons! ••••• this furthers the adaptation of Fox's novel!••••

Buscema's pencils in these two issues were inked by Dick Giordano (figures0 and Terry Austin (backgrounds)! Both covers are by the great Gil Kane!

These two CONAN copies look great for their age of nearly 51 years, with strong bindings, glossy covers, supple pages, and good color.  No abnormal toning, and no tears, chips, or stress lines.
