Here's the scion of Asgard, the MIGHTY THOR, appearing just three years after his debut in this science fiction/fantasy anthology comic, JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY, and less than one year before the God of Thunder gets his own self-titled comic, with THOR #126.

In "The Day of the Destroyer!", written by Stan Lee and with dynamic action art from Jack Kirby, LOKI, fearful of the power of the Destroyer, has saved THOR from certain death. As THOR continues to battle for his life, LOKI sends a message to KARNILLA, the Norn Queen, urging her to wake ODIN from the Odinsleep.

ODIN awakes and realizes that THOR is in danger and tries to assist him, but THOR insists that he should wage his own battle. THOR eventually prevails but damages his hammer. ODIN is consumed with pride at his son's gallantry and summons LOKI to berate him. LOKI is punished by being bound in servitude to ULARIC, Odin's Royal Warlock.

Jack Kirby also illustrates the TALES OF ASGARD back-up feature, "Gather, Warriors!" - in which ODIN fears that RAGNARÖK, the twilight of the gods, is upon them.. so THOR assembles a motley crew and prepares to set sail into battle. It marks the FIRST APPEARANCE of the Warriors Three - HOGUN, FANDRAL, and VOLSTAGG!

This 61-year old copy of JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #119 is in pretty nice condition - no tears, bent corners, or excessive toning -- but there is a tiny torn piece at the front cover edge. Otherwise all is in great condition

We'll call this a 6.0 FN which The Overstreet Price Guide values at $75 -- we however are going to make this issue a bargain for THOR fans at just $36 !
